I quit using staples on keypad wire runs after one call back in Mesa

Started zip tying keypad wire to studs instead of stapling it after a job on a 1998 build where staples rubbed the jacket and shorted the data pair. Haven't had a single data fault since, that was 14 panels ago. Any of you running into that on older homes or is it just me?
