I finally quit driving through the Big I at rush hour after a guy on a bike beat me downtown
I used to swear the interstate was always faster, even for short trips across town, so I took I-25 and I-40 everywhere. Last Tuesday I had to get from Nob Hill to Old Town around 5:15 and sat dead still on the Big I for almost 20 minutes while a cyclist rolled past me on the sidewalk. He got to Central before I even hit the Lead Ave exit, and I just sat there feeling dumb. Now I take Coal and Mountain Rd for anything under 5 miles and it saves me 10 to 15 minutes most days. Anyone else have a route you swore by until you actually timed it?
