I stopped fighting the Sandia foothills wind with my patio umbrella and tried one cheap fix
I live up near Tramway and for two years my patio umbrella would flip over every single windy afternoon. Last spring I finally swapped the 50 pound base for a $19 bucket I filled with Quikrete, and the whole thing stopped tipping. Took me about 20 minutes to pour and let it cure over a weekend. The wind here is no joke in April, but that umbrella has not moved once since. Has anyone found a cheaper way to anchor patio stuff, or do you just give up and bolt everything down?
