The Sandia Tram is the longest aerial tram in the country and I only learned that last month
I was killing time in the waiting area at the tram base last month and actually read the sign on the wall instead of scrolling my phone. Turns out the Sandia Peak Tramway is 2.7 miles long and holds the record for the longest aerial tram in the Americas, not just New Mexico. I have lived here 11 years and ridden it probably 5 times and never knew that. The sign said it climbs over 10,000 feet in about 15 minutes and the cable sag in the middle is something like 70 feet. I told my coworker at lunch and she didn't believe me so we looked it up and sure enough. Kind of wild that people fly here from other countries to ride something I treat like a thing to do when family visits. Does anyone know if the record claim is still accurate or did somewhere else beat it?
