My landlord saw my worm bin and called it a 'biohazard'
Last Tuesday he came in for a smoke alarm check and spotted my 5 gallon bin under the sink. He went pale and said it looked like something from a lab accident, even though it smelled like dirt. I tried to explain the carbon layer and how I only add scraps once a week, but he wouldn't listen. He threatened to write me up unless I moved it out. I told him the city actually encourages this, but he said rules are rules. Has anyone else dealt with a landlord who freaks out over a sealed bin that clearly doesn't stink?

Told mine it was a compost tea brewing system for my houseplants and offered to show him how it works. He backed off after I let him peek at the worms and explain they eat the scraps. Also printed out a city recycling fact sheet and left it on his desk, that seemed to settle it.
