My sister swore banana peels would wreck my bin, she was wrong

She told me back in March that banana peels would turn my kitchen bin into a fruit fly farm, so I tossed them for weeks. Finally got lazy and dumped a handful in anyway with my browns, and the bin stayed dry and neutral for 9 days with zero flies. Anyone else notice peels get blamed way more than they deserve?
