Grabbed a weird glass jar at a thrift store, and it sparked a worm farm frenzy

Have you read about how worm poop helping plants fight off sickness? I saw a blog post that said the tiny organisms in it make plant roots stronger. That might be why your plants are doing so well with that homemade fertilizer. I've been wanting to try a small setup, but I worry about fruit flies. What do you do to keep pests away from your bucket?

A bag of beans from my thrifty days still gives me pause

A film on migrant workers in California really hit me hard. I used to grab whatever was on sale at the store, no questions asked. But seeing those conditions made me rethink every purchase. Now I check labels for fair trade marks, even if it costs more. It's not always easy, but knowing I'm not supporting bad treatment helps. I get why people buy cheap out of necessity, though.

From my freelance gigs, I've seen avionics go all digital. I think we're losing the hands-on feel that made fixing things straightforward.

Honestly, I felt the same way for a long time. There was something solid and sure about the old manual systems. But watching a full digital diagnostic run on a modern flight deck changed my mind. It found a tiny fault in seconds, something that would have taken hours of manual tracing. That speed and accuracy keeps planes safe. We traded some hands-on work for a lot more reliability.

My close call with a buried cable got me spraying paint before I dig.

What about when folks dig without checking and hit something bigger? My cousin once cracked a sewer line trying to plant a tree, and the cleanup was a nightmare.
