Used to hate stump grinding until I switched to a different feed pattern
Always fed the grinder straight in, one pass at a time. Took forever on big oak stumps. Saw a guy in Charlotte do a sweeping side-to-side motion last month. Tried it on a 30 inch maple yesterday. Cut my time in half. Anyone else use this method on hardwoods?

Totally agree, that side sweep is a game changer. Had the same lightbulb moment as @kim_patel89 with my chainsaw technique last year. Makes the whole job way less of a grind lol.

Wow, that's how it goes with most tools honestly.

I get what you're saying with "that's how it goes with most tools," but I actually disagree a bit. Some tools just never click no matter how much you use them. My old circular saw for example - no technique could fix that blade wobble. Some tools are just poorly made and no amount of experience changes that. Other times it's the tool design itself that's the problem, not the user. Like a cheap pry bar that bends on the first real job - that's not about technique lol.
