My brush guard find turned into a three-day artifact prep
Last month I pulled a corroded Roman fibula out of a trench near Bath and thought I'd have it cleaned up by Sunday. The bronze was so crusted that my usual electrolysis setup just made it worse, so I had to switch to manual picks and a lot of patience. Twenty hours over three nights got the pin working again and the detail on the catch plate is sharp enough to cast. The site supervisor laughed and said I looked like I was defusing a bomb, which honestly was accurate. Has anyone else had a small find spiral into a marathon conservation job like that?

Used to think cleaning was quick, but this totally changed my mind.
