Shoutout to the dig site where they found ancient water channels

Seeing how they managed floods back then gives us smart ideas for handling water today.

Actually, my uncle had a place out west with these old irrigation canals still visible in the dirt. Just grooves worn by runoff, but they directed every drop to where it was needed. He always said the folks who set it up just watched where the water wanted to go. Now we spend millions burying giant tubes instead of working with the land. Saw a news piece where a city planted more trees and shallow basins to slow down rain, basically copying that idea. Funny how the simplest fixes are already written in the ground.

Saw a doc on ancient farms doing the same thing.

Wait, millions on buried tubes? That actually makes me mad. We built a whole storm drain system in my neighborhood that floods every time it rains hard. Could've just made some swales and saved a ton of cash. Why do we always pick the hardest fix over the one that's already working right in front of us?
