Showerthought: I had the Clovis first thing backwards for 20 years
For the longest time I parroted the old "Clovis first" line to anyone who would listen at the local society meetings in Tucson, but last month I read a report on the 14,500 year old coprolites from Paisley Caves and it finally sank in that people were here well before those fluted points showed up. What got me was how the story keeps getting treated as settled even though the dates keep pushing back, and I only changed my mind after digging into the actual site reports myself. Has anyone else had a dating paper flip their whole mental timeline of when humans reached the Americas?
