That moment I unlearned how to hold a trowel on a dig in Montana last June
Fellow volunteer showed me I had been scraping away layers for 3 years instead of lifting them... realized I was destroying context every time. Anyone else have a basic technique they had to unlearn embarrassingly late?

Started using a rice cooker wrong for like 5 years. Always measured the water to the first knuckle rule. Never got fluffy rice. Turns out different rice types need different water amounts. Same deal with you and the trowel. We learn one way and just stick with it. Never question if we're doing it right. Just keep doing the same mistake over and over.

Knuckle rule is a total myth.
