Totally agree! Saw a vintage dresser last week that someone had painted a soft gray, and it looked amazing in their modern living room. The original wood was pretty scratched up anyway, so the paint gave it new life. Who cares if it's not 'original' if it makes the owner happy? Plus, like you said, chalk paint can be removed if someone changes their mind later.
