6 months ago I shoveled my driveway 3 times every storm, now I just do it once
Used to go out there every few hours trying to keep up with the snow so it wouldn't pile up. By the end of a big storm I'd be exhausted and my back killing me. A guy from up the road told me to just wait until it stops and do it all at once with the snowblower. I was worried about it getting too heavy but honestly it packs down way less than I thought. Finally tried it during that 18 inch storm back in February near Concord and saved myself like 4 trips outside. Anyone else ditch the multiple shovel approach?

Nope, waiting makes it way harder once it settles and ices up underneath.

Ive been doing it the other way for 20 years and no way I would wait until the end. That 18 inch storm you mentioned, I was out there 4 times during it. First pass when there was about 3 inches so the blower could handle it easy. Then again at 8 inches, then at 14, then a final clean up. Took maybe 20 minutes each time instead of fighting a foot and a half of heavy wet stuff that turns into cement by the time the storm ends. You are rolling the dice on your back and your machine if you let it pile up like that.
