Hit my 10,000th question answered on a trivia app and got a weird badge for it
I've been messing around with this trivia app called Quizocity since a buddy bet me 20 bucks I couldn't get past level 15 back in March. It's mostly just a way to kill time on the bus, but it keeps a counter of every question you answer right, and a couple nights ago I looked down and saw 10,000 staring back at me. The weird part is the app gave me a badge that just says "Certified Overthinker" with a little cartoon owl, and I sat there at my kitchen table in Columbus feeling strangely proud of a fake award at 11pm. What got me was the breakdown they sent with it: apparently I've answered 3,412 geography questions and only 74 about sports, which honestly checks out since I couldn't name a single NHL team if you paid me. I tried to explain the badge to my girlfriend and she just asked if this was the same app where I argued with a stranger about the capital of Australia for 20 minutes. It wasn't even the badge that surprised me, it was realizing I've probably burned 60 hours on this thing since spring and could've learned an actual skill instead. Anyway, has anyone else gotten sucked into one of these apps and hit a number that made you stop and question your life choices?
