The dollar store near my apartment sells the same batteries as the name brand for $1.25, and I ran a test
I grabbed a 4 pack of AA batteries at a dollar store in Cleveland for $1.25 and a big brand pack for $8 at the grocery next door. Ran both sets in my TV remote and my kid's toy car for 3 months, and the cheap ones actually lasted a few days longer. I looked it up online and a lot of store brand batteries come from the same factories overseas. Has anyone else tried this with other stuff, like pain meds or foil?
