The guy at the hardware store 3 years ago told me to measure twice

Last week I was putting up shelves in my garage and cut a board too short by 3 inches because I was in a hurry. That old guy at Ace really did know what he was talking about - has anyone else had a random stranger's advice actually stick with you for years?

Did you ever go back and thank that guy? Those little moments of good advice from strangers are rare but they really do stick with you.

Honestly, that line "good advice from strangers are rare" really hits different, @diana_king. I know exactly what you mean, those moments stick with you way more than you expect. I never actually went back to thank that guy, which I lowkey regret now. It's one of those things where you think about it later and wish you had said something. But honestly, the fact that I still remember his advice years later probably means more than any thank you could. Those random acts of kindness from strangers are just built different, you know?
