Vent: Asked how to handle a work mistake and got useless replies

I messed up a report at my job and posted asking for the best way to tell my boss. Most comments just said to quit or that I was dumb for asking. No one shared actual experience or helpful tips. It made me realize some forums are not about helping at all.

What were you hoping people would say instead? Tbh a lot of forums just have people yelling into the void, not giving real advice. It sounds like you needed practical steps, not jokes.

Is it always that deep though? Sometimes people just want to shoot the breeze, not get a life plan. Forums can be for silly stuff too.
