Before and after Jupiter shots from my driveway, 3 months apart
I took a photo of Jupiter back in September with my phone held up to the eyepiece on my 8 inch dob. It was a tiny bright dot with maybe two blurry bands. Last night I tried again with the same setup but used a cheap 2x Barlow and stacked about 400 frames in free software. The difference is wild. You can actually see the Great Red Spot and three moons lined up. It took me maybe 20 minutes to shoot the video and 10 minutes to stack it. Has anyone else noticed a huge jump in quality just from learning to stack instead of buying new gear?
