Sprinkler head blew off and flooded my crawlspace in Decatur

Honestly, last Tuesday I was mowing and heard this weird hissing near the back flower bed. Turns out a cracked PVC joint under the valve box shot water sideways for maybe 20 minutes before I found the shutoff. My crawlspace had about 3 inches of standing water and I spent the whole weekend with a shop vac and a dehumidifier. Has anyone else dealt with a sprinkler line burst that close to the foundation? I'm trying to decide if I should just cap that zone off for good.

so I had this exact thing happen two summers ago except mine blew right next to the slab and water got under my AC unit. what saved me was cutting that zone at the valve box and capping it before it even got to the foundation. if you do cap it, make sure you mark the valve box lid so you remember it's dead, otherwise future you will waste an hour digging around wondering why that zone does nothing. honestly for the peace of mind, I'd cap it. one zone of grass dying is cheaper than footing repair or mold in the crawlspace. and check your other zones for the same PVC brand, sometimes it's a bad batch and the rest will follow.
