Picked aftermarket bumper cover over OEM for a 2018 Civic, saving $280, and the gap at the headlight is still bugging me
Had a silver 2018 Civic in the bay that needed a full front clip after a deer hit, and I had to choose between a $190 aftermarket cover or the $470 OEM one. Customer was paying out of pocket so I went aftermarket, and it bolted up fine but the gap at the driver headlight is about 4mm wider than the other side. I've tried shimming the bracket and adjusting the fender twice now. Anyone had luck getting a CAPA cover to line up close to factory, or am I just eating the difference on the next one?
Check the hood latch striker plate before you blame the cover. Those get tweaked in a front hit and pull the whole nose over a couple mm, which shows up as a headlight gap on one side only. Measure from the striker to the core support on both sides and you might find the real culprit.
