Tried that new 3M platinum filler on a hood today. Night and day difference.

Been using the same green can stuff for like 8 years. Shop manager threw me this platinum stuff. Sanded it down after 15 minutes. Smooth as glass. No pinholes. Regular stuff always gave me little pits. Cost more but save time on glazing. Anyone else switch and notice the same thing?

Why would you want to get rid of pinholes that fast though? I actually like a little bit of texture in my filler because it gives the primer something to bite into. You sand that platinum stuff too smooth and you're setting yourself up for adhesion problems down the road. I've had a few jobs where the paint lifted right off because the filler was too slick underneath. Regular green can stuff takes a little more work but at least you know it's gonna hold. That extra step of glazing doesn't bother me as much as a comeback does.

Wait you actually had paint lift off from it being too smooth?
