Showerthought: reading the fine print on my warranty saved me $1,100 on a water pump
My water pump went out on my 2016 Silverado last month at 71,000 miles, and I almost paid the $1,100 out of pocket because I figured the powertrain coverage had already run out. Before I swiped my card at the shop here in Tucson, I actually sat down and read the whole booklet instead of just skimming it. Turns out the powertrain plan covers the water pump under the engine section, which I never would have guessed, and they cut me a check for the full repair 9 days later. The lesson for me was that the coverage list is way longer than the little summary sheet they hand you at signing. Has anyone else found a part buried in their contract that they assumed was not covered?
