A lead mechanic told me to ignore a specific fault code on a G1000 system

He said the 'AHRS ATT' flag was just a quirk on this Cessna 182 and to clear it without looking. I did that for three flights in a row. On the fourth, the whole PFD went blank over Kansas City. Turns out a corroded connector on the magnetometer was causing it, and ignoring it let the issue get worse. Anyone else had a senior guy give advice that almost caused a real problem?

That AHRS flag is a magnetometer warning, not just a random quirk. I saw a similar thing on a 172 where that exact code meant the unit was starting to fail. It's wild he told you to just clear it without even a basic check of the connections. That kind of advice can make a small problem into a big one real fast.

Oh man, that's scary. I had an instructor tell me to ignore a weird fuel flow fluctuation on an old Piper. Said it was just the gauge. It was actually a tiny crack in the fuel line behind the panel. Found it during the annual, but it could have been real bad.

Ugh, that "just ignore it" attitude is everywhere now. Like when your car makes a new noise and someone says it's probably nothing... until the wheel falls off.
