PSA: Self-test those old BITE units before you trust them

I used to just push the test button and clear the fault like my mentor showed me, but after a 2019 incident on a CRJ where the BITE passed self-test and still lied about a bad LRU, I now pull the pin, check the fault history file, and cycle power twice before I even touch the connector, has anyone else caught a faulty self-test on a unit older than 10 years?
