Question about a weird static discharge I got from a 787's nose cone

Last month in Seattle, I was doing a pre-flight check and got zapped by a static charge from the radome, which made my hair stand up like a cartoon. My lead just laughed and said 'welcome to composite materials' before handing me a grounding strap. Anyone else have a funny static story from a new airframe?

Got the same jolt from an A350 wingtip last winter. Learned to always ground the strap to the aircraft structure first, not the ground cart. That little habit change stopped the surprises.

Nothing like a free wingtip zap to remind you about physics. The ground cart method is basically asking for a static electricity handshake. Good call on switching up the routine.
