Showerthought: do you bench test a new LRU before install, or trust the tag?
Had a pitot heat controller show up last Tuesday with a fresh yellow tag on it, and against my better gut I bolted it straight into the jet instead of rigging it on the bench first. Powered up the left side and got nothing, no heat, no fault light, just dead. Turned out to be a bent pin in the cannon plug that a 5 minute continuity check would have caught before I spent two hours on my back in the wheel well. Half the guys I work with say bench testing every box is a waste of clock time, the other half won't sign anything off without it. Where do you all draw the line?
