That $80 crimp tool that ruined my Saturday and cost me a flight

Bought a cheap crimper off an auction site back in March, figured it was fine for D-subs. First real job rewriting a harness for a Cessna 172, half the pins pulled right out of the connector during the tug test. Lost the whole afternoon, had to borrow a proper 59099 from the lead, and still ate $180 in heat shrink and contacts. My own fault for not testing it on scrap before touching the airframe. Has anyone else gotten burned by bargain basement crimpers, or did I just get the one bad unit from that lot?
