That week in Denver when every connector pin fought back

Last month I had a stretch where three different aircraft came through with intermittent nav issues, and each one traced back to a pin that looked perfect under the loupe but failed the pull test. It took me 4 days to stop chasing the LRU and start checking the backshells, which sounds obvious now but the insulation was hiding cracked solder. Has anyone else had a run where the wiring diagram said one thing and the actual bundle said another, and how do you trust the prints after that?

What is it about a wire bundle that makes it lie to you like that, right? I swear my last gremlin turned out to be a pin that had passed the pull test twice before, but the third time it just slid out like it was buttered. Makes you wonder if the prints are more like a suggestion than a map, and honestly I've stopped trusting them until I've traced every damn wire by hand. My own record is two days of swapping boxes before I found a corroded pin hiding inside a boot that looked brand new, so yeah, you're in good company.
