TIL the pinout chart in the manual was wrong, cost me 2 hours
Working on a 737 throttle quadrant last week, I kept getting a weird resistance reading on the harness. Turns out the pinout chart in the 1982 manual we have in the shop had two pins swapped, 24 and 31. Found it by accident when I traced the wires back to the cannon plug with a continuity tester. Now I check the physical wires before I trust any old drawing. Has anyone else caught a manual error that made you question everything?

Two pins swapped, 24 and 31" sounds about right for any 80s manual, honestly. In my experience, those old drawings were done by hand and sometimes the guy who made them was working from a photo of a photo. But the thing about "questioning everything" is a trap too, like, you can't go re-checking every wire on every job or you'll never get anything done. Maybe just flag it in the manual with a sharpie for the next guy.
