GPS said 6 miles, trail said 9, my legs said no

Nearly ran out of water on the Eagle Creek loop in Oregon because a 2019 map had the cutoff at the wrong fork, cost me 3 extra hours and a very cranky afternoon. Anybody else trust paper maps over apps now, or am I just bitter about my smartphone lying to me?

Paper maps never lie about a fork being there, that's for sure. Your 2019 map cost you water and sanity, and I'd be bitter too. Apps are great until they aren't, and my phone has sent me down some real garbage paths lately. I still carry both, but I trust the paper one when things get serious.
