Just realized I've logged over 500 miles on the same pair of trail runners

They're the Altra Lone Peaks I bought for a John Muir Trail section hike three years ago. Anyone else had a pair last way longer than you expected?

Yeah, the "blow out at the sides" thing mason847 mentioned is exactly what happens to me. I get maybe 300 miles before the upper separates from the sole near my pinky toe. It's always the same spot. Makes me wonder if it's just how my foot strikes. Seeing 500 miles on a pair feels like finding a unicorn.

Honestly, 500 miles on a pair of Altras is wild to me. Mine always seem to blow out at the sides way before that. What kind of trails are you mostly running on? I wonder if smoother dirt paths are way easier on them than the rocky, rooty stuff I usually deal with. That could explain the huge difference in how long they last.
