Rant: The trail to Lake Serene in Washington went from a chill hike to a literal mudslide in about 45 minutes last Saturday.

A sudden downpour turned the main switchback into a chocolate pudding slip-n-slide, and I watched a guy in brand new boots slowly, comically slide about 20 feet down the hill on his butt, still holding his trekking poles straight up like he was on a parade float lol.

It's wild how fast things can go from fine to a total mess, isn't it? That's kind of how my whole life feels lately, like things are chill and then suddenly everything's sliding sideways, whether it's the weather or just a regular Tuesday.

That reminds me of the time I saw a guy try to "surf" down a muddy slope on his rain jacket.

Oh man, that visual is perfect. I've been that guy, just not as graceful. I once tried to side-step a mud patch on a trail near here and my foot just kept going, sank right in past my ankle. Had to sit there in the wet dirt, one boot off, pulling it out with a gross squelch sound. @wesleyc75, at least your guy was trying to look cool. I just looked like a fool who forgot how dirt works.
