inShoutout to that $10 rice cooker that finally gave up after 5 years
Man, @tarajenkins , you're right on with this. It's like the same thing with everything these days, not just rice cookers. I swear there's this weird spot where if you pay too little, it's basically a fire hazard, but not even the expensive stuff is always better either. I got a cheap blender once that vibrated right off the counter on high speed. It's like the world just accepted that we all gotta gamble on small appliances now. You don't need top of the line, just a little above the bottom of the barrel and you're usually fine for a few years. It's wild how that tiny bit of extra cash makes the difference between something that works and something that scares you.

inThat whole idea of cashing out while rates are low isn't always the right move
Honestly I was this close to doing the same thing with my 2.75% rate last year until I realized my credit score is only a few points higher than my age so I just painted the bathroom myself instead. Tbh the numbers looked fine on paper but my wallet cried a little when I saw the new payment.

inThat big job in Denver changed my mind about power stretchers
Yeah, "unless you do that kind of work every week" is a pretty big exception. Most people don't have that kind of time or energy.

inPoured a 12x16 patio last spring that looked rough at first
Hold up though. I've been doing concrete for twelve years and I gotta say, daily misting for three months sounds crazy to me. That's just asking for surface dusting and a weak top layer if you let it stay too wet for too long. I usually wet cure for about seven days, then let it air dry for two weeks before sealing. Last year I did a driveway that got misted twice daily for a full month and it ended up with a weird cloudy finish that never really polished out right. You sure that super long cure didn't mess with your final hardness?

inThought I was the hotshot welding for 6 years until my lead handed me a grinder
Brother I spent three years grinding flat when I could have just turned my wire speed down.
