I stopped washing my chicken eggs and nobody got sick
For two years I scrubbed every egg with soap and water before putting them in the fridge, thinking I was being clean. Then my neighbor in Boise told me that removes the natural bloom and actually makes them go bad faster. Has anyone else tried leaving the dirt on and just wiping them dry before cracking?

Oh man, my buddy tried that and his omelet tasted like a barn.

Man I totally bought into the egg scrubbing thing too for years, but my grandma finally set me straight and now I just give them a quick dry wipe before using lol.

Wait, wait, hold up. DRY WIPE? Like just rub them with a dry paper towel and call it good? I think I just felt my stomach drop lmao. I was all ready to agree with you about not scrubbing them like crazy, but I always at least give them a quick rinse under the faucet before cracking them open. I'm sitting here trying to picture just wiping off some chicken poop with a dry cloth and then getting that shell all over my eggs, and honestly it's making me feel kinda gross. I swear my mom would come back from the dead just to smack me if she saw me pull that move in her kitchen. But hey, if your grandma's been doing it for fifty years and nobody died, maybe I'm just a wimp about it lol.
