My neighbor waved me over to meet his flock and then told me my hens were "too quiet to be happy"
So this was about a week ago. I'm out in the yard at 7am filling the waterer when Dale from two doors down flags me over. He's got 9 birds, mostly barred rocks, and he wants to show off his new coop. Fine, I go look. Nice setup, way nicer than mine honestly.
Then he walks over to my run, looks at my 4 girls, and goes, "They don't make any noise. Mine holler all morning. Yours might be sick." I told him they're just fine, they laid 3 eggs that morning. He shook his head at me like I was the one who didn't know what I was doing. His birds scream because his rooster starts it up at 5am.
Anyway now every time I see him I wonder if I should be worried or if he's just got a loud bunch. Mine are quiet, eat good, lay good. Guess that's a problem now. Anyone else got a neighbor who thinks quiet chickens are broken?
