Vent: A guy at the Tractor Supply in Ames sold me a hen that was already sick
Bought a barred rock from a guy in the parking lot there last Tuesday for $15, and she was dead by Friday morning. He swore up and down she was laying, but she had that raspy sound and watery eyes from the start. Now two of my four hens are sneezing and I'm out $60 at the vet. Anyone else gotten burned buying birds off a parking lot deal, and how long do you watch a new hen before you let her near the flock?
