Visited a neighbor's coop last week and noticed something odd about their run setup

They had the whole thing covered in those green tarps from the hardware store. In my experience that traps way too much moisture inside and can lead to respiratory issues. Has anyone else seen folks doing this and had to gently suggest they switch to something more breathable?

Oh man, I felt that "traps way too much moisture" line deep in my bones. I saw a neighbor do the exact same thing with those blue tarps and within a few months their birds started wheezing and had this musty smell in the coop. It was heartbreaking to watch them try to fix it with more bedding when the real problem was the walls sweating at night. I ended up showing them how to use hardware cloth with a clear polycarbonate roof panel instead, lets light in but still breathes.

You ever think blue tarps are the fix until they're not? I used to swear by them for winter cover but you just changed my mind completely.
