Pro tip: the night my neighbor's porch light ruined my view, I learned to knock on doors first
Back in 2019 I set up my dob in the driveway on a clear Friday in October, right as Orion was coming up over the fence. Just as my eyes adapted, my neighbor flipped on a 5000 lumen LED porch light and my whole yard lit up like a parking lot. I walked over the next day with a six pack and asked if he could kill it after 9pm, and he laughed and said nobody had ever told him it bothered anyone. Now I always do a walk around the block before dark to see which lights will hit my yard, and I just talk to the people. Has anyone else had luck with a polite knock, or do you all just live behind a light shield?
