Serious question: is a bakery that sells day old bread at half price hurting itself or helping?
I stopped by a small shop in Boise last month and saw a sign for day old loaves at $2.50, and the fresh ones were $6. The owner swears the discount rack brings in new regulars, but I watched two folks grab the cheap loaves and skip the full price stuff completely. Is that rack a smart way to cut waste or a trap that trains your customers to just wait?
