Hot take: overdraft fees are a trap, but the bank's app pushed me into them
For 8 months I kept my checking balance at $40 because the app's 'low balance' alert only fired at $50, so I thought I was safe. Then a $7 coffee shop charge in Denver triggered a $34 fee and I realized the real mistake was treating their warning as my budget. Is the fix better alerts or just ditching the overdraft 'protection' altogether?
