Update: A teller in Tulsa talked me out of a cashier's check and it saved me $35
Last month I went into a branch in Tulsa to get a cashier's check for a $2,400 car purchase, and the teller asked why I wasn't just using a wire. I told her wires felt risky and old school, which is what everyone says, but she pulled up the fee sheet and showed me the cashier's check was $35 while the wire was $15. She also pointed out the check could get held for 5 days while the wire hit the same afternoon. I did the wire and the seller had the money before I left the parking lot. Has anyone else had a banker push them toward a product they thought was outdated, and were they right?
