Pro tip: I started using a curling iron to fix cowlicks on my clients and it works way better than a blow dryer
So I've been fighting this one cowlick on the crown for like 2 years. Tried everything - blow drying different directions, using a comb, even wetting it down again. Nothing held. Then last week I grabbed my wife's 1 inch curling iron, set it on low heat, and pressed the cowlick flat for like 10 seconds. It stayed all day. Now I'm wondering if I should ditch the brush technique entirely or if I just got lucky. Anyone else tried heat tools for problem spots?

Man you're not alone with that crown cowlick struggle, it's the worst (mine flips up at random angles). Tried that curling iron trick on a stubborn spot near my hairline and it actually worked better than the blow dryer, which just made it puff up more. Low heat is key though, I learned that the hard way after singeing a patch. Had to fight the urge to crank up the heat for faster results, but slow and steady is the move.

Read somewhere that using a bit of hairspray on a comb before styling helps lock that cowlick down longer. Tried it and it actually worked, beats having to re-heat the same spot three times. Still careful with the heat though, once burnt my ear on a curling iron and learned that lesson fast. Slow and low is the only way to go, trust me.

Yeah totally with you on the slow and low thing. I singed my bangs once trying to rush with a straightener and it looked terrible for like a week. But that curling iron trick honestly changed my whole routine. I've been using it on my own cowlick at the temple area and it actually stays put now, no redoing it halfway through the day. I think it's because the heat molds the hair follicle better than the blow dryer does since you're pressing it flat directly. It's not like I'm gonna throw out my brush completely but for those stubborn spots this is legit the only thing that works for me now.
