inMy old line cook from 2009 told me my flat top was running too hot, and he was dead on
Man, I gotta push back on this one. A flat top at 375 is gonna give you pale, sad food and tickets that take forever, and Marcus might've just been watching you cook one thing wrong instead of the whole picture. If your eggs stick at 500, that's a dirty surface or not enough fat, not the temp, so don't go turning your whole line down over one batch of hash browns.

inThe bathroom door trick that saved my laptop from a coffee spill
Did you see that waitress coming or was it a total surprise? I do the same thing with my screen but I also slide my coffee cup way off to the side first. Lost a keyboard to a soda once in college and that was enough for me.

inTurns out shielding continuity is a bigger deal than I thought
Shield bonds are the step everybody skips because a meter just sitting there reads fine until you load it up. The trick is never trust a plain ohm check, run a bonding meter or a low resistance tester that pushes real current through the joint. Anything over a tenth of an ohm on a braid and I am pulling the backshell apart, because a corroded ferrule or a little corrosion under a clamp will bite you at altitude when things vibrate and heat cycles. Flex the harness while you measure too, that is where the bad ones show up. Nine times out of ten the gremlin is hiding in a ground or shield path, not the box or the pins. Takes five extra minutes on install and saves you three days of chasing ghosts.
