Vent: I used to knock out 15 cuts a day on pure speed, now I book 9 and my hands don't ache at closing
For my first 4 years behind the chair I ran a walk-in shop on 5th and averaged 15 heads a day, sometimes 18 on Saturdays, all clipper work and a quick taper. Around 2 years ago my right thumb started going numb holding the shears, so I switched to booking 9 clients max with 45 minute slots instead. My weekly take dropped maybe $200 at first and I was mad about it, but then I stopped losing regulars who hated waiting behind the speed cuts. The funny part is my fades actually got cleaner because I'm not rushing the blend to beat the clock. Tried one walk-in Saturday a while back just to prove a point and by 2pm my wrist was done. Any of you older guys made this switch and did the money ever catch back up for you?

Went through the same thing with my shoulders after years of nonstop clipper work, and cutting back to 9 or 10 a day saved me. The money caught up within a year once my regulars stopped bouncing because they hated the cattle call vibe.
