inRemember when you could just roll out a big sheet of carpet padding?
Oh man, that red plastic backing can be a real pain to work with. Parker's heat gun method is solid advice, but it takes a light touch for sure. In my experience, a sharp blade and a straight edge are just as important as the tape to keep things lined up before you seal it. That stuff wants to slip around if you don't get it locked down first.

inHad a weird paint reaction on a 2018 Honda Civic in Seattle last month
Honestly, that sounds like classic contamination. A tech sheet won't help if there's silicone or wax in the air or on the panel. I've seen it a dozen times, especially in shops that do detail work nearby. That cratering is a dead giveaway. It's probably not the paint. You need to scrub the whole area with a wax and grease remover again, maybe even use a tack cloth right before you spray.

inMy kids' playtime looks different these days
Wait, puppies usually wreck toys though? Maybe her kids just had to team up to save them from getting chewed up.

inSerious question, my recycled barn wood shelf started oozing sap after I finished it
Ugh, been there with an old pine table. That sap is sneaky and heat really brings it out. What finally worked for me was hitting the whole piece with a heat gun to draw more sap out, wiping it down with rubbing alcohol, and then resealing it with a shellac based primer before my top coat. It's a whole extra step but it basically traps the sap for good.

inMy little cousin thought he could hide a cable run behind the couch with duct tape
Oh man, tape never sticks right for long. Those little adhesive cable clips are a lifesaver, they hold way better.
