Rant: 3 yard sales in one morning and every single clock was 15 minutes fast

Hit up a stretch of sales over by Memorial Park last Saturday. Must have seen like 12 clocks between tables and bins, analog and digital. Every single one was set to read 15 minutes ahead. Who does that? Is it some kind of time management tactic or just everyone buying broken stuff and leaving it that way? I almost grabbed a nice little alarm clock for $2 but then I remembered I'd just spend every day doing math in my head. Anyone else notice this weird pattern at thrift spots or did I just hit a crazy neighborhood?
