The $2 bin at the Goodwill on Rt 9 had a working cassette player and now I'm fighting myself over whether to flip it or keep it
Stopped by the Goodwill on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie last Saturday because I had 20 minutes to kill and the electronics bin is always a mess. Digging through the tangled cords I found a Sony Walkman WM-FX in the $2 bin, no battery cover, belt clip snapped off, but I threw in two AAs from the checkout counter and it ate a tape and played fine. Now here's the thing I keep going back and forth on. Half of me says anything that works for $2 is a keeper, use it, enjoy it, that's the whole point of this hobby. The other half says these go for $40 to $60 on the bay when they work, and I could turn that $2 into gas money and a nicer find down the road. I've already got three working players at home so it's not like I need it, but there's something about a $2 rescue that feels wrong to sell. Where do you all draw the line, do you keep the cheap stuff that actually works or do you flip it to fund the stuff you really want?
