Shoutout to the shop owner in Omaha who fixed my brake rub with a 5 cent washer
I spent two hours last Saturday chasing a rear brake rub on my old Trek, resetting the caliper and truing the rotor with no luck. The owner of a tiny shop off Leavenworth took one look, slipped a thin washer behind the caliper mount, and it was silent in 3 minutes. He said the frame had worn a slight dish over 15 years and the caliper needed a shim, not an adjustment. Now I keep a bag of those washers in my toolbox, and I still feel a little dumb about the whole thing. Has anyone else run into a frame that slowly shifted like that?
