inHad a close call with a cold shoe on a draft horse near Spokane last month
Actually, horses don't really "spook" at the object itself. It's the sudden movement. A plastic bag lying still is usually fine, but the second the wind catches it, that quick darting motion triggers their flight instinct. My old trainer used to desensitize our geldings by rattling bags quietly near them, then rewarding calm behavior. It's all about that unpredictable motion, not the thing making it.

inA talk with my neighbor about his old Detroit Diesel changed how I see my own work
Man, that's a solid point. I used to get so hung up on making everything just right in my own shop, polishing stuff that didn't need it. Hearing something like that from someone who used their gear hard makes you realize "good enough" is often perfect. It's about the thing doing its job, not winning a beauty contest. That logger knows what's up.

inA guy at the Tucson Gem Show said 'that's not quartz, it's calcite' and handed me a bottle of vinegar
Right? Total legend move.

inI thought the hype around that new show 'Sakura's Echo' was just bots, but after my friend in Portland forced me to watch the first 3 episodes, the animation in that fight scene at 18 minutes into episode 2 completely changed my mind.
Yeah that happens. Went in expecting to hate that cooking show everyone was obsessed with. Now I know way too much about competitive baking.

inMy aunt insisted I add pockets to a formal gown design
Totally agree with the secret weapon thing. My friend once fit a whole burrito in her dress pocket, @cameron963. It was a game changer.
